Root Canals
What it is:
A root canal is a dental procedure designed to treat infection or damage within the pulp of a tooth. This treatment involves removing the affected pulp, disinfecting the root canals, and sealing them to prevent further infection. It is often recommended when a tooth is deeply decayed or has an abscess.
The Process:
- Diagnosis and Preparation: We start with an examination and X-rays to assess the extent of the infection or damage. Anesthesia is administered to ensure you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
- Pulp Removal and Cleaning: The infected or damaged pulp is removed, and the root canals are cleaned and disinfected.
- Filling and Sealing: The empty canals are filled with a biocompatible material and sealed. A temporary or permanent crown may be placed to restore the tooth’s function.
- Follow-up Care: We schedule follow-up visits to monitor the healing process and ensure the tooth remains healthy and functional.
